Work history

Site Manager Waste Transfer Station

HWMartin
Washington, Sunderland
04.2021 - Current
  • My first role when i started back with HW Martin was as the weighbridge operator on site. The role involved that all material in and out of site was accounted for and all relevant paperwork had been filled in so that we where complying with EA Regulations. Day to day i would general organise loads to leave site, book wagons into site for them to distribute the load accordingly, speak to transport to ensure loads where being collected, organising meetings, dealing with emails about different queries relevant to on site.
  • Then after 2 year an opportunity came up to be site manager. This is now my current role where i have just completed my WAMITAB certificate.
  • In this role as site manager it was very similar to my weighbridge role but with a bit added pressure. I make sure that staff are looked after and have all relevant PPE and follow H&S regulations, i also deal with pay role making sure that everyone's timesheets are filled in correct for the previous week, I'm involved in daily and monthly meetings which vary from improvements, catch up's and H&S.
  • Another key role as site manager and COTC holder is site maintenance which i have daily and monthly checks to complete, this is something i take pride in to make sure that the site is running to the best of it's ability and that it is complying with the EA regulations and standards set to run a transfer station. this is anywhere from site appearance to drains, to fire systems etc.
  • Its a high pressured role which i enjoy due to my skill set and work ethic.

Senior Customer Service Advisor

EC Outsourcing
01.2017 - 10.2019
  • Starting as an outbound sales advisor I excelled in building relationships with customers and achieving my targets. Each call was a different challenge and I enjoyed that variety and providing an individual solution to each customer.
  • After 7 months I was promoted to customer interaction which further enhanced my communication skills. Understanding the customer needs in order to offer a bespoke solution was key and I thrived in a problem-solving environment.
  • I was promoted again to Senior Customer Service Advisor where I developed my skill set further, motivating and supporting my team with everyday issues and supporting my manager to achieve the goals set for the team and as an individual.
  • In December 2018 I progressed to the B2B department learning new skills in dealing with business owners directly. Establishing relationships quickly was essential and I was successful in securing a number of energy contracts. Using multiple systems meant thinking on my feet and I enjoyed the challenges and goals set in this role.

Manufacturing Engineer

Nissan Manufacturing
09.2010 - 10.2014
  • Company Overview: Nissan Manufacturing was an excellent learning and development stage for me.
  • I worked across several different departments starting in the plastic shop. In this department attention to detail was key as any error could potentially damage production at a later stage.
  • I progressed to the press shop where I assisted in producing the bodies of the cars such as side panels and bonnets. Respecting staff safety at all times, punctuality and professionalism was instilled and I enjoyed being part of a team that worked hard and reaped rewards by hitting our targets. Nissan taught me a lot about the working environment which has helped me in later positions.
