Reliable and disciplined Site Supervisor with 40+ years of experience working on commercial, industrial and residential buildings. Possessing a sound knowledge of inspection process and industry customs. Familiar with modern and historical building techniques and practices. A wealth of experience within and outside the building trade. Passionate about delivering quality with a keen eye for detail. Finishing starts at the beginning, not left until the end.
The principal area of works are solely within the domestic market. At my suggestion, we have moved away from small works offered by letting agents to larger scale refurbishment and new build projects. My responsibilities were to complete these projects to the satisfaction of the customer and within budgets. Tasks include liaising with Architects, Structural Engineers, Building Control and the client. Also, to source and issue contracts to additional trades, as well as day to day running and setting out etc. Current project value £400,000.
The renovation of Cotehele Quay Lodge, for the National Trust.
Extensive works to renovate to a high standard. I was the only Carpenter involved on this project. Images of the completed interior can be seen here

All wood visible was installed by me. Paneling is bead & butt rather than
pre-machined MDF. A great deal of customer oversight was present.
Project: The Story of Emily Museum
This multi million pound project won the 2025 RIBA South West & Wessex Building of the Year Award and a RIBA South West & Wessex Award.
I was the principal Carpenter in the Cafe from an early stage through to completion. Referred to as McCafé, such was my input as site managers were replaced frequently. The interior is a vast open space lavishly fitted out in 44m QF1 grade Oak. Huge sections 6m x 1m in solid Oak were prepared by me on site, and then installed under bulkheads/Glazing sections. All construction detail was from Datums and Grid lines and included many technical innovations but alternatively required hand planing of 44mm Oak sections of traditional carpentry to play it's part. Extremely precise set out was required in order to achieve alignment to the millimeter .
