Section Manager [Signalling]

Network Rail
London
09.2017 - 04.2022
  • Company Overview: A major British railway infrastructure company
  • I managed a Signalling depot team consisting of 3 Section Supervisors, 2 Section Planners, 36 Network Rail Signalling staff, and 18 maintenance contractors
  • I achieved improved maintenance standards, reliability, and compliance of signalling assets
  • This is a very challenging location, boasting three central London terminus stations: London Bridge, Cannon Street, and Charing Cross
  • I played a pivotal role in improving asset performance, specifically POE and developing frontline staff
  • To achieve this, I needed to lead by example
  • I ensured regular engagement with employees whilst utilising the delivery unit training facility and coordinated with supervisory staff to lead challenging scenarios, which varied from identifying signalling asset failures to their rectification to routine maintenance tasks
  • This included understanding the S&C system to identify failure modes and their route causes
  • The repetitive nature of refitting defective POE equipment has enabled me to continuously improve response and rectification times, staff development, and engagement, which was a significant and enjoyable part of my role at London Bridge
