Working as a kitchen porter in a pub/restaurant for the past couple of months, primarily on long Sunday shifts, has allowed me to quickly develop a strong understanding of back-of-house operations. I have gained experience maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, working efficiently under pressure during busy service periods, and supporting chefs and kitchen staff to ensure a smooth service. The role has strengthened my time management, stamina, and reliability, particularly through consistently completing long shifts to a high standard. It has also helped me build teamwork, attention to detail, and adaptability, demonstrating my ability to learn quickly and contribute effectively, despite being in the role for a relatively short period of time.

Working as a food waiter in a restaurant has enabled me to develop strong customer service and communication skills, as well as the ability to remain professional, composed, and effective in a fast-paced environment. I have gained experience in multitasking, prioritising tasks efficiently during busy service periods, and working collaboratively as part of a team to ensure smooth operations. This role has also strengthened my attention to detail, problem-solving skills when handling customer queries or complaints, and time management. Additionally, I have developed reliability, adaptability, and a strong work ethic, all while consistently delivering a high standard of service.

Working as a warehouseman in the Goods In sector during the summer breaks of 2023, 2024, and 2025, I developed a strong understanding of warehouse operations and inventory control. This role required accuracy and attention to detail when receiving, checking, and recording incoming deliveries, as well as the ability to follow procedures, and health and safety regulations consistently. I strengthened my organisational and time-management skills by working efficiently to meet daily targets, often in a fast-paced environment. The position also enhanced my teamwork and communication skills through close collaboration with colleagues and supervisors, while the seasonal nature of the role demonstrated my reliability, adaptability, and willingness to return and contribute effectively each year.

Working as a paper delivery assistant for a village shop taught me a strong sense of responsibility and self-discipline from an early age. The role required waking up very early in the morning to meet strict delivery deadlines, which helped me develop excellent time management, reliability, and punctuality. I worked independently to complete my rounds efficiently and accurately, while also building resilience and a strong work ethic through consistent early starts in all weather conditions. This experience demonstrated my commitment, trustworthiness, and ability to manage responsibilities without direct supervision.
