Work history

Team Leader

Dunelm
01.2008 - 08.2025
  • Excellent Communication skills: Throughout the alternative job roles I have communicated with a diverse range of customers, staff members and delivery drivers. As a result of this I feel I am very good at adapting my approach to each situation depending on what is required. I am calm in difficult situations and feel it is important to be approachable and friendly to customers and staff, but to also have a firm but fair approach when managing my team.
  • Delivery Responsibility: Receiving deliveries of a range of products from the company's main distribution centre which occurs daily. It consists of “goods receipting” stock using the HHT (handheld terminal) then transferring the data onto the computer system independently. I am responsible for ensuring stock file integrity and accuracy is done correctly which is an important aspect of maintaining the company's reputation and our stores credibility and financial wellbeing.
  • Ordering System: I am organized and have strengthened my time management skills which are important and necessary skills to have when putting orders on the (SAP) Systems Applications and Products system to replenish the stock sold and check the accuracy of the stores stock file.
  • Customer Support: I have enhanced my ability to deal with customer questions in relation to showing the location of items within the store, assisting with providing good customer service by being professional, polite and knowledgeable. Also I have developed the skills to be patient and attentive when dealing with customer complaints.
  • Responsibility: I am experienced in using different points of sale and handling various amounts of money, taking payments from customers and cashing up at the end of the day. Within this job role I am expected to be highly trusted, responsible and organized. I am responsible for opening and closing the store when needed which has enabled my development of certain skills such as the ability to use my initiative and work independently.
  • Leadership: My role involves leading a delivery team to ensure daily deliveries are worked effectively, while focusing on their daily targets to allow the warehouse to remain at the correct standard. I have led various teams during campaign and sale set ups, allocating each colleague with set roles, ensuring each member is clear on their set objectives and supporting them when necessary to meet the standard required. Leading a team has helped to improve my communication skills, decision making and time management skills, allowing me to become more confident in myself and my judgement.
