Work History

Coaching

Kettering Hockey Club and Wellingborough School
Kettering , Northamptonshire

Throughout school I helped teachers coach children in sports including hockey and netball. This taught me to plan efficiently for the next sessions and to deal with children appropriately dependent on the situation at hand.

I also volunteered at Kettering Hockey club as a coach for the under 8's teams.

Affiliations

  • - I represented my school first team, Northamptonshire county and Kettering through playing hockey from a very young age. Hockey taught me how to be a good team player and how to work efficiently as a group. Hockey is one of my biggest passions and has been for as long as I can remember.
  • I also really enjoy tennis, going to the gym, canoeing, camping, hiking and socialising with my friends

After completing my A levels at school last year I took a gap year out to travel. I travelled with a friend and then decided to carry on travelling solo after her departure. Solo travelling has taught me some useful skills these include;

  • Adaptability - Navigating unfamiliar environments taught me to think on my feet and adjust to changing circumstances quickly, whether it was rerouting plans due to unexpected closures or communicating with locals despite language barriers.
  • Cultural Awareness - Immersing myself in diverse cultures fostered a deeper understanding of global perspectives. I learned to appreciate different customs and traditions, enhancing my ability to engage with people from various backgrounds.
  • Self reliance - Traveling alone strengthened my problem-solving skills and decision-making abilities. From planning itineraries to managing budgets, I developed confidence in my capacity to handle challenges independently.
  • Communication skills - Interacting with fellow travelers and locals improved my interpersonal skills. I learned to initiate conversations and build connections, enhancing my ability to network effectively in both personal and professional settings.
  • Time management - Balancing exploration with personal downtime taught me the importance of prioritizing tasks and managing my schedule efficiently.
  • Personal growth - Solo travel pushed me out of my comfort zone, fostering resilience and self-discovery. I gained a clearer sense of my goals and values, which has positively influenced my personal life.

This experience has not only enriched my understanding of the world but also equipped me with valuable life skills that I can usefully bring into a professional work environment.
