I am a graphic design student currently studying at Edinburgh University where I've developed strong skills in time management, creativity and attention to detail,my creative background has taught me how to approach problem-solving with innovative ideas and adapt to new situations quickly. I've been working as a dog walker for the past 7 years alongside on studies, this role has allowed me to develop time management, responsibility and customer service through building relationships with pet owners and ensuring their dogs receive the care and attention they need. I am now eager to explore new opportunities that will allow me to broaden my skill set and deepen my experience.
In my role as a dog walker, I managed a diverse group of clients, providing personalised care to meet the unique needs of each pet. This required strong communication skills and interpersonal, as I regularly interacted with pet owners to ensure their expectations were met and provided updates on their dogs' well-being. I demonstrated patience and attention to detail, ensuring each dog was safe and properly cared for during walks, which built a high level of trust with clients.
Additionally, I organised and maintained a weekly schedule, effectively balancing my client appointments with my academic responsibilities. At the wildlife rescue shelter, I played a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of the animals in our care. My main responsibilities included thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing enclosures to provide a safe and hygienic environment. This involved scrubbing surfaces, properly disposing of waste, and maintaining cleanliness to prevent disease spread among the animals.
I developed strong observational skills by closely monitoring the behaviour and health of the animals during feeding and cleaning. This attention to detail allowed me to identify potential issues and communicate them effectively to the staff.
Additionally, my experience at an animal shelter enhanced my skills in managing a fast-paced environment. I learned to thrive while juggling multiple tasks, such as feeding, cleaning, and assisting with injured wildlife. This role required me to remain organized and efficient amidst constant activity, fostering my ability to adapt and be flexible in response to new challenges and unexpected situations. Overall, my time in these roles deepened my commitment to animal welfare and honed my capacity to provide compassionate care in dynamic settings.
During my role as a volunteer Care Assistant, my primary responsibilities involved providing companionship and support to residents, which included making tea and coffee, assisting with their daily routines, and engaging in conversations to ensure they felt heard and valued. I found that spending time talking with residents helped build trust and created a positive, comforting atmosphere. Through these interactions, I developed strong communication skills, learning how to listen attentively and adapt my approach based on individual needs and preferences.
Additionally, I worked closely with other staff members, contributing to a collaborative team environment where we supported each other to provide the best possible care. This teamwork was essential in maintaining a smooth workflow, ensuring residents received consistent, personalised attention.
