Currently completing a training contract with seats in Commercial Property, Dispute Resolution, Contentious Trusts and Probate and Property Litigation. Gained experience across both contentious and non-contentious matters, supporting fee earners on a range of tasks while also managing and running my own caseload. Key responsibilities included:

Contentious Trusts and Probate:

• Assisted on a range of disputes involving will validity, lack of testamentary capacity, undue influence, and under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975.
• Experience of dealing and working on matters in the Court of Protection.
• Experience of dealing with researching and advising in relation to complex contentious trust issues.
• Drafted key court papers such as witness statements, letters of claim, claim form, particulars of claim and settlement correspondence.
• Conducted legal research on probate disputes and equitable remedies.
• Attending client meetings, supporting case strategy and negotiation.
• Gained experience handling sensitive situations with professionally.
• Worked with a variety of different clients such as farm owners, disinherited family members, trustees, beneficiaries and executors.

Property Litigation:

• Acted on disputes involving land and boundary disputes, beneficial ownership and trusts of land.
• Experience of dealing with TOLATA proceedings.
• Drafted pleadings and advised on litigation strategy.
• Experience with dealing with possession proceedings and other landlord and tenant disputes.
• Experience of housing management, including advising and acting for housing disputes in the social housing sector including possession and injunction proceedings.
• Participated in a seminar for our largest social housing client, where I delivered a segment on injunctions and the procedures involved.
• Managed and conducted my own caseload of landlord and tenant disrepair matters, acting on behalf of landlords. This primarily involved negotiating disputes at the pre-action stage, successfully achieving resolution in a number of cases.
• Worked with a variety of different commercial clients such as housing developments, government and public sector bodies, and companies in the automotive sector.

Disputes resolution:

• Developed core litigation skills including case management, drafting statements of case and preparing court bundles.
• Exposure to High Court and County Court Procedures.
• Gained advocacy experience by attending a possession hearing and representing our client in court, successfully obtaining a possession order.
• Assisted with mediations, settlement negotiations, and alternative dispute resolution processes, including first hand in-person experience participating in mediation proceedings.
• Assisted in a variety of complex issues, including shareholder disputes and breach of contract cases.

Commercial Property:

• Advised on acquisitions, disposals and leases of commercial property
• Conducted title investigations and due diligence.
• Drafted documents such as leases, deeds of surrender and deeds of variation.
• Populated data rooms for large clients in a way which is clear and organised.
