My time with Trumpington street Medical practice has been the most valuable part of my journey so far. I gained a tremendous amount of knowledge and hands-on experience, starting with being given my own clinic just four days in—a remarkable opportunity that gave me a huge head start. Alongside routine morning tasks such as managing fridges and stock, I saw 28-33 patients a day on average performing bloods and quickly progressed to more advanced responsibilities due to my demonstrated skills. I was trusted with wound care, diabetic and hypertension reviews, doppler, INR, I also assisted in minor surgeries, including two sebaceous cyst removals (chest and scalp) and a carpal tunnel procedure, working closely with the GP and another HCA. One of the highlights was witnessing a lumbar puncture, which added to the depth of my clinical exposure.
In addition, I am currently training to complete my exams in ECG interpretation and paediatric phlebotomy, as well as vaccinations and immunisations, further expanding my clinical competencies.
