Working for Ribble Cycles and then Evans Cycles has allowed me to pursue my cycling passion. Interacting with a wide variety of customers, managing a team and completing the store's administrative tasks have made me an adaptable professional ready to take on a new challenge.
The Trafford branch is one of the highest grossing stores in the company and within this fast paced environment I have performed a multifaceted role:
I was initially hired as a Supervisor Technician and then promoted to Assistant Manger in May 2024.
The requirement to be able to build any bike across the whole Ribble range meant balancing speed of production with a meticulous attention to detail. This helped me to develop both technically and the level I achieved was reflected by my promotion to “Lead Mechanic”.
During uncertain Covid times, this job taught me to how to deal with customer pressure; how to diffuse difficult situations and the habit of constantly keeping work surfaces in pristine condition. In my own time, I created a variety of chalkboards, murals and paintings.
In addition to the interviewer training that the company provided, I also gained much experience in both telephone manner and the administrative skills necessary for handling a large number of appointments.
Primarily dealing with enquires and bookings, I volunteered to help update the membership system so as to accommodate the changes brought about by the new fitness studio.
In numerical terms, the 3 sub-3-hour marathons that I ran through Manchester and York are the crème of my palmarès. Cycling is on the other hand a more personal pursuit, which I enjoy predominantly by myself and for its own sake. That being said, I love playing team tennis and I am currently an active member the West Heaton Tennis Club.
