Summary

I am a motivated and reliable person. I am currently studying for my GCSEs, with a strong interest in technology, programming, and outdoor activities.

Through obtaining my PADI Open Water Diver qualification, participating in shooting sports, and taking part in leadership-focused school expeditions, I have developed resilience, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to perform under pressure.

I am confident and outgoing, an effective communicator who enjoys working with people from a wide range of backgrounds and am always keen to learn new skills and take on new challenges.

I am able to follow, memorise and perform instructions quickly ensuring consistent performance, whilst also clarifying when I don't fully understand what is required of me.

At my shooting club I assisted in the building and refurbishment of the gun range as well as the meeting hall. Successfully completing the tasks assigned to me.

I work well as an individual and also part of a team, accepting everyone's differing opinions and perspectives to create a well-functioning teamwork environment.

I am good at timekeeping, ensuring I am where I need to be, when I need to be.

I am enthusiastic and willing to learn, happy to take on any task no matter how big or small.

Skills

Calm Under Pressure

I successfully completed the PADI Open Water Diver certification, which involved four days of practical diving training and assessments having to achieve a pass in each assessment to receive a full qualification

During my final dive, my BCD (a device controlling rapid ascent and descent) began having issues, it started leaking air rapidly causing my oxygen tank to fully run out I remained calm, used my underwater communication skills to indicate to my dive buddy that I was in need of assistance, and safely returned to the surface using the buddy system, demonstrating my composure and sound decision-making in a high-pressure situation

If I hadn't have remained calm I ran the risk of drowning 18 metres beneath the surface

Problem Solving

I have developed strong problem-solving skills through my Computer Science GCSE, regularly applying computational thinking techniques such as abstraction, decomposition, algorithmic thinking, and pattern recognition

I have also applied these skills in airsoft (an in person military simulation game), where I analysed a challenging situation in which my team was on the verge of losing and formulated a strategy that helped my team regain control of the game by creating positioning my teammates in positions to hold down areas and begin pushing back the enemy

Communication Skills

I am confident in communicating with people from a wide range of ethnic and cultural backgrounds and age groups showing respect for our individual differences

Through school, shooting club activities, and competitive shooting events, I interact regularly with individuals ranging from my own age to those in their 80s

I am able to actively listen to feedback and constructive criticism This is an important aspect, as I am required handle dangerous weapons safely Having the skills to do also not only improves my performance whilst weapon handling, but also in regular life to be able to progress quicker and more effectively in areas that I am new to

I am able to actively listen to feedback and accept/give constructive criticism This is an important aspect, not only on the shooting range, but in everyday life on the range I am required handle dangerous weapons safely Having the skills to do also not only improves my performance whilst weapon handling, but also in regular life to be able to progress quicker and more effectively in areas that I am new to

During a recent school trip to Germany for my GCSE, I used language skills learnt during my studies to converse effectively with German nationals both within the Youth Hostel I stayed in, but also others I met day to day whilst in the Country

Public Speaking

I presented a researched presentation to my peers The topic I chose was on the impact of artificial intelligence and modern technological developments on the world I received positive feedback from both my peers and teachers, earning a distinction for its content, preparation, and delivery

Resourcefulness

For my speech as mentioned above, I used the information available to me online and from my teacher to create a convincing speech within the deadline I effectively balanced my time spent revising for my GCSEs alongside my hobbies I carefully created a timetable and prioritised tasks based on their significance

Leadership

I demonstrated leadership skills during a school expedition in the Lake District involving leading a group of my peers on a mountain camping trip I had to consider route planning, equipment checks to ensure it was all in working order, and verify that all of my group was prepared

Once we reached the campsite, I helped those who were struggling set up their tents so they were safe from the elements for the night

Programming & Development

I have developed a basic website using HTML and created a simple quiz application in Python These projects gave me experience in programming fundamentals, logical thinking, debugging, and user-focused design
