Summary

I am currently in my 11th year in the engineering industry. I have previously worked at British Steel and CorrBoardUK, progressing through multiple roles, from mechanical fitting and plant condition monitoring to being a maintenance engineer. My current role as mechanical technician is at the PX Saltend chemical park. I thrive in fast paced and high-pressure environments and would be an asset to any team. Safety is at the forefront of my training having worked in dangerous environments, such as the British Steel site. It has given me experience in safe working procedures and practices and how to deal with a range of hazards.

Work history

Mechanical Maintenance Technician

PX Limited
01.2023 - 05.2025
  • Company Overview: Saltend Chemical Park
  • I have adapted to my new role supporting and providing services to external partners such as INEOS, Mitsubishi chemicals, Vivergo and more.
  • Primarily, I work on water, steam, and acid systems, ranging from greasing and inspection routines to maintenance of pumps and valves.
  • Overall, the site is outdated and there are age-related marks, fortunately, I am very keen on not only maintaining but improving these systems.
  • I feel it could be improved by having certain maintenance tasks carried out at different intervals, this is because they currently use newer operating systems for old machinery.
  • There are some critical machines on site which have recently failed, I believe it could have been prevented had a reliability program been rolled out.
  • As a suggestion for improvement, I have put forward my ideas on how this could not only be achieved but how it can significantly improve the way in which we react and act towards maintenance and breakdowns across the site.
  • Saltend Chemical Park

Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer

CorrBoard
05.2022 - 01.2023
  • I have recently started a new company in the pursuit of bettering myself, here I am a multi skilled (Electrical and mechanical) based maintenance engineer.
  • Here we ensure we apply preventative maintenance in the fast-operating cardboard manufacturing line.
  • We work with a host of different types of engineering from greasing routines, steam, pressured systems, pneumatics, electronics and panels, software, hydraulics, large rotating parts, boiler systems and more.
  • I have learnt valuable knowledge here and have adapted well, going from a steel-making environment to a much faster-paced production line.

Condition Monitoring Technician

British Steel
11.2019 - 05.2022
  • I have been part of the condition monitoring/precision engineering department at the British steel site since November of 2019.
  • I have undertaken routine inspections (vibration monitoring/thermography/endoscopy) of multiple assets across the site, ranging from critical hoists and pressure systems to water pumps and conveying lines (and more).
  • I have strived to work with plant in ensuring their equipment is operating effectively whilst extending its lifetime.
  • I have also assisted plant by undertaking precision alignments and fan balances.
  • I continue to strive to become a Cat 3 analyst and a level 1 thermographer.

Mechanical Fitter

British Steel
09.2014 - 11.2019
  • I served 4 years as an apprentice at the Scunthorpe Steelworks site.
  • I was placed at 6 different business units across the site; each had its own processes and plant-specific machinery.
  • I was lucky to be involved in major stop period work on multiple different plants, gaining valuable experience of planned preventive maintenance.
  • I then came out of my time as an apprentice and was placed as a Blast Furnaces maintenance team member for over a year.
  • I undertook many roles from; reactive maintenance during inspections, crucial plant maintenance, and breakdown repairs to keep the 24/7 critical plant running.
