As delivery manager I was now in direct contact with tier 1 contractors, dealing with all Civils and cabling/splicing teams directly on the ground, and on site.
The Civils Specialist role gave me extra responsibility, regarding any specific engineering difficulties (SED's) such as Bridges, Culverts, Gully's, LV/HV cables, Water and Gas, Mainline Pipelines. With my Civils background i was on hand to visit site, plan and program in specialized works liaising with the correct companies to complete the work required.
I've been able to also gain valuable Project management experience throughout the last 3 years, being trusted while senior management are away on leave or out of office, using that experience to help me with my day to role managing all aspects of the full fibre roll out across multiple regions of the UK.
Since arriving at Gigaclear it's been fast paced and I have thrived, delivering a brand new ultra-fast rural broadband network to small unserved villages throughout Northamptonshire.
As a Civils Supervisor, I oversaw the running of 12-15 Civils Teams across East Anglia working on Footway's and Carriageways to install new cables on the Virgin Media Network.
As a Civils Field Engineer within the Civils department, tasks were to provide customers with digital TV, Broadband and Telephone service. Duties included underground pre-pulling of cables, relieving blockages, installing new termination points, chamber re-builds, cabinet builds, track extensions and testing/fault finding on all RG-6 and RG-11 Co-Axial cables, installation of phone lines from exchange to property and groundworks on domestic properties.
As a school leaver I went straight into work at the Army Training Regiment in Bassingbourne, Royston as a civilian trainee chef, duties included day to day running of the kitchen, general cooking and preparing catering for around 600-800 recruits daily serving breakfast lunch and dinner.
