The Transport Manager position is responsible for the organisation and overseeing the day to day operation, with clear focus on all legal compliance and financial/budget targets. This role also requires full management of 80+ drivers working multiple shifts, the Transport department and Gatehouse over a 24/7 period.
Other responsibilities are managing individuals workload, career aspirations and skill development whilst providing an engaging environment to work in. Alongside this, the position also takes responsibility for insurance, new business engagement, agency management, investigations and disciplinary requirements, peak period planning, Logistics Planning cover, training of other departments such as Customer Services and cover for the Transport General Manager during annual leave.
Overseeing the daily operation and reporting into the Transport Manager via daily meetings and KPI reports to ensure the operation was achieving the targets set by the Senior Management team. This role also included training responsibilities all team members to ensure each role had suitable cover during annual leave. Also developing interdepartmental training to provide better business understanding throughout the teams to improve decision making and customer service. This roles also saw an increased responsibility for legal compliance and driver management.
Operating the full General Artic Team, as the UK Transport Planner. Responsible for planning and managing a 30 vehicle fleet, which includes managing all vehicle and driver compliance, driver holidays and sickness, managing several primary contracts as well as developing ad-hoc opportunities. Reporting directing to the General Manager and providing KPIs to ensure the business was maximising revenue whilst managing and decreasing costs where appropriate.
Along with the responsibilities of Transport Planning, I am working closely with the Transport Operations Manager and the Transport Manager helping to develop and train the Transport Team, developing customer relations and providing a selection of KPI reports to ensure operational targets are met. Also taking further responsibility for drivers and the fleets legal compliance and becoming a representative for Health and Safety within the Transport operation.
Working within the Transport Department, dealing with day to day traffic control; whilst organising orders and planning all outbound and inbound traffic, including containers. Specialising in ambient multi drop haulage, including consolidated loads for Bidfood, Tesco's and other major retailers. Planning transport for 80+ customers and planning optimal routes for 60 vehicles, both artic and rigid, and subcontractors.

Planning with total focus on required business requirements, including £/per mile, shift revenue, customer on time arrival targets and ensuring all legal compliance was completed.
Responsibility for tracking and KPI reporting for over 14,000 pallet per week into Waitrose RDCs as their Primary temperature controlled haulier. Also providing internal reports for load fill, fleet utilisation and other KPIs, which were all tailored to customer requirement and expectations.
