Outline:

Within the Reactive Work Leading Hand role, the opportunity to manage a team arose, as well as the responsibility for planning the workload and daily tasks for each worker/team and monitoring their paperwork and general well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Closely managing a team of between ten and fifteen.
  • Regular meetings with Taupo District Council Water Engineers, Project Managers, and Water Treatment Team to positively discuss and plan future work and projects, and also to ensure the relationship between Contract Issuer and Receiver is mutually beneficial.
  • Ordered necessary supplies and equipment, ensuring uninterrupted workflow.
  • Executed tasks within time and budget constraints.
  • Estimated budgets and hours for each job.
  • On top of managing unpredictable reactive works, I would also supervise planned project work throughout the district. Through these periods, I would be solely responsible for all paperwork, as-builts, job completion and handover, whilst supervising both the Reactive and Planned Teams.

Key Achievements:

  • Building and maintaining a close and trusting relationship with the employer and with the members of the team.
  • Implemented new operational strategies recommended by management, boosting overall efficiency levels across the team.

The work consists of installation, maintenance, and repair of water connections within the Great Lake Taupo district.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out On-Call duties and work as a first responder during after-hours work.
  • Safely and effectively perform water main shut-downs, repairs, and liven ups.
  • Water quality testing, monitoring, and recording.

  • Recognising faults and behaviours in Backflow Devices in Rural Schemes and Commercial Properties.

  • Cultivated myself to working long hours in adverse conditions.
  • Cementing myself as a key figure in the team, and proving I can handle extra workloads, responsibilities and leadership qualities.
  • Building and maintaining a good relationship with colleges, contractors and employers, and working well in part of a team which are all working towards the same goals.
