Summary

Qualified as a chef in 1995 working in a number of high quality, high pressure establishments, developing skills and knowledge to achieve head chef status in 2005. Over the last 24 years I have been employed at 3 establishments in the Oban area with my current job coming to an end in October due to the financial pressures on the hospitality industry.

The experiences gained as a chef have allowed the development of strong leadership, organisational and communication skills. Working as part of various sized teams, co-ordination of people and tasks in order to foster a positive work environment has been vital, this also involved the training of junior staff members to enable them to successfully achieve national qualifications. There has also been periods of my employment when I have worked alone having to co-ordinate all aspects of kitchen responsibilities to ensure that the restaurants high expectations are consistently achieved.

I am a loyal employee with a solid understanding of training and mentoring employees, a dedicated team player, proactive and hands-on in task completion and driven to deliver high quality service and consistent results. Experiencing a challenging new role that harnesses interpersonal skills, collaboration and problem-solving would be an inspiring opportunity.

This job opportunity whilst very different from my current employment would fulfill my interest in being involved with the local environment. My hobbies are very much related to being part of the marine environment and I would like the opportunity to use the skills I have gained throughout my current career in a more marine-focused role.
