This included fitting new wear parts and repairing any damaged steel work. When the shredding mill was running fine my other duties included repair of steel skips and storage containers.

- Worked as a fabricator/welder at Pendennis shipyard in Falmouth Cornwall. Worked for exterior outfit department on a new build (90foot) luxury high performance sailing yacht "Vijonara". Initally my duties included the fabrication, fitting and finishing of all external weather proof aluminium hatches on board. This involved accurate measuring, tig welding shrinkage calculation and finishing to a very high standard. Other duties included stainless steel fabrication, welding and polishing to a very high standard i.e flagpole holder deck fittings etc.

- Worked for Bollasco b.v. The job was based in Gorinchem, the Netherlands. I worked at Damen shipyard, Gorinchem . My job title was "fabricator/welder". Whilst there I worked on the production of casco build 706 series aluminium high speed coastal patrol boats. In the 6 month period I worked on a total of 4 boats. The vessels were 17 metres in length and shell and superstructure were made from aluminium. My job involved firstly rectifying all the faults made by the previous company i.e making sure that hatches, engine bay doors and mechanical systems worked properly then would fit all the the cable trays for the wiring and brackets to hold the electronic equipment. Duties included fitting cable trays, antenna arrays, exhaust systems, Pressure testing fuel tanks, water tanks, sewage tanks and repairing if necessary. Fitting gas springs and locking mechanisms for hatches and making sure that they close and seal effectively, Fitting and testing of emergency fuel shut off valves. I fitted an electronic anti-galvanic corrosion anode system. Installed motorized anchor winch and anchor mounting. Mounted electrical cabinets. Installed float level bilge pumps and fitted generators, pumps, motors etc.

- Worked for Bbl-technical and was contracted to a company called Keppel Verolme. The job was based in Rozenburg at keppel rig-yard in Holland. I worked in a dry dock, one of the largest in Europe on an oil rig called “Scarabeo 6”. The rig was an old one and was in for repair and renovation. My job title was "1st plater" My project on the rig was the extension and reinforcement of the two existing emergency lifeboat platforms situated on the aft and fore of the main deck. The work involved systematically removing the plated structure of the lifeboat platforms and replacing it with a heavier gauge plate so that eventually a larger life boat could be suspended from the platform. Work involved working from drawings, oxyacetylene cutting, plating, welding ,fitting and working from a cherry-picker at heights of 60 metres . The work was heavy engineering.

My job title was "plastic pipe fitter/welder" The job was based in Tessenderlo in Belgium and worked on sight at a company called "vinyl chlorides", they specialize in brine electrolysis and produce chemicals such as chlorine, bleach, hydrogen choleric acid etc. Whilst there I installed a new pipe line made from polyurethane with a high pressure polyester pressure jacket. Duties included machine welding of the polyurethane pipe using Teflon coated hot plate and free hand welding of the p.e using a hot air torch and filler rod. The joins were then coated with fibreglass matting and polyester resin.

I worked at South boats ship yard on an aluminium work boat called "Cardigan bay". The work boat was an aluminium catamaran around 20 metres in length and some 20 years old and was in for a complete refit. I built the the platform on the rear of the vessel that held the escape lifeboat, I fabricated, fitted and welded the life boat platform and also built the accompanying davit supports for the lifeboat launching crane.
