Mary Mazhindu

I am currently working at HRI as a band 5 registered nurse in MAU part time. I have gained a lot of skills while working in this ward as it is an acute fast pace ward with a lot to learn. I have also worked as an agency nursed alongside for 2 years in different hospitals and different specialities, including respiratory, cardiology, urology, orthopaedics, surgical, elderly, dementia and diabetics wards. Some of the skills l gained over the years include:

• Monitored patient vitals and necessary signs.
• Respond to emergency situations quickly within appropriate procedures.
• Evaluated patient care needs, prioritised treatment and maintained patient flow.
• Worked closely with fellow nurses, doctors and clinicians for consistent communication and continued best care practices.
• Assessed, planned and implemented treatments with precision and care, prioritising patient well-being.
• Delivered consistently high standards of individualised nursing care, best maintaining patients' health and well-being.
• Administered oxygen and medication to achieve optimum health outcomes.
• Monitored and recorded patient condition, carrying out and reporting regular observations.
• Monitored patient behaviour and responses to treatments and reported concerns to senior staff.
• Quickly responded to medical emergencies, working calmly and professionally under pressure.
• Reviewed, updated, and maintained medical records in a timely manner, enhancing the quality of care provided to patients.

• I worked in both these hospitals for 3 years during my placement times while l was studying as a student nurse at the University of Nottingham. This helped me to built positive rapport with patients from various backgrounds and gain a lot of skills
