A Work Experience programme I found and applied for myself. In the programme we spent a full week going through a lot of in depth processes of theatre, including practical, technical and advertisement-based. We spent the week finding out about the insides and outs of the theatre industry, being allowed to operate lights, sound etc. On the last day of the week, knowing all of this information, we were asked to make and present a proposition for an event as a group to the staff.
This was my one week work experience programme where I was on assessment all week. I got to see and spend time with so many wonderful children on-site. I was asked by my colleagues to make observations on behaviour displayed like fidgeting, routines etc, which were then discussed in a team meeting at the end of the day. I did this for 4 days of the week, usually in the mornings, and in the afternoons I would do paperwork like spelling/mistake checking essays that others have written, shredding papers etc. On the Friday, I had the very lucky opportunity to observe a hearing exam of a little boy, and learnt a lot from my peers.
I was part of a hard-working hotel housekeeping team on weekends. I mainly cleaned toilets, however, on occasion I cleaned rooms when staffing was an issue. I had to be time-effective and orderly in order to make sure I was providing the best service I could within as little time as possible as usually my job would entail touching up rooms that are still in-use.
A part of my Year 10 Work Experience. I went through the whole week as an employee, switching between toddlers and babies as they had two separate pre-school sections. I was a part of their morning and afternoon routines, including supervising in activities like messy play and outside play. I would also clean after particularly messy activities in the afternoons or while children were playing outside.
