Currently part of a small team of 4 at Glasgow Airport looking after 200+ pieces of powered and non-powered equipment responsible for the preventative maintenance, servicing (to a schedule), identifying and ordering parts, electrical, hydraulic and mechanical fault finding, metal fabrication and damage repairs. All processes follow strict health and safety practices and company SOP's and each job recorded on a computer using Maximo software.
As a lead of a team of three, I was responsible for the prompt turnaround of inbound flights ensuring correct implementation of GSE equipment on and around the aircraft, safeguarded disembarkment of passengers and attentive removal of baggage from aircraft. On departure I was responsible for loading the baggage as per provide load plan for each specific flight, removal of GSE equipment, pre departure walk rounds, headset communication with flight deck and pushing back of the aircraft.
Part of a small group of three in a fast paced environment, we were collectively responsible for the servicing and general maintenance of light vehicles and trailers. Carried out MOT repairs to DVSA required standard, general and in depth electrical, mechanical and diagnostic fault finding. Identifying and ordering correct parts as per repair.
Assisted electricians in reading and understanding of plans and installation of cable, cable trays, switches and sockets on a newly built hotel following correct site procedures. Working closely with various trades to ensure efficient completion of assembly. Aided with final installation of fixtures and fittings to a high standard as per clients request. Assist with diagnosis and installation of fire and emergency pull chord system in a residential care home. All processes followed strict and meticulous steps adhering to correct safety procedures to ensure the welfare of the public using the facilities.
Completed 4 year apprenticeship over two dealerships (Toyota and Fiat/Citroen) and moved onto Peugeot dealership once time served. Firstly assisting my mentor in various jobs before quickly being able to work on my own carrying out servicing and repairs as my skill level improved. Adhering to manufacturer and dealership specific processes I was able to become part of the team in assisting in customer satisfaction. Following provided job sheets for each day ensuring to clock on/off each job and record. Over the course of my apprenticeship I attended GTG training where I successfully completed all modules plus additional modules that were available out with the training schedule. Once time served I made the choice to move onto a new dealership due to the demand for time served mechanics in other Arnold Clark branches.
