I am a friendly and enthusiastic person which has meant these characteristics have shown though my time working, especially as a waitress. Maintaining the role as a waitress has meant I have become comfortable when operating in fast-paced environments with demanding objectives for sales, service and quality. As well as this, it has also meant adapting to changing menus and policies, and handling customer issues.
Working in a Catholic primary school has meant taking on lots of responsibility when communicating with the children in my care as well as their parents when there is concerns. I provided a safe environment for children which has meant using different skills to relate to their wants and needs giving me a diverse skill set. Maintaining a good relationship with the children meant adapting to their mindset and creating a sense of play, learning and development.
Working as a waitress in a high quality establishment has allowed me to understand, adapt and develop in skills in customer service. My customer contact has been with a diverse community with a variety of needs, which has required me to learn to promptly attend and respond to queries and requests. My skill set includes taking customer orders/requests, using electronic devices, maintaining close working relationships with kitchen staff to ensure quality and efficiency in our service. Customer satisfaction and comfort was always a priority. I undertook extra training often in the evening to make sure I maintained knowledge of menu items that helped me to take orders accurately and inform customers decisions. When the restaurant was during peak hours, I adapted to the fast moving environment well by communicating with my co workers and remaining calm to perform efficiently. When times weren't as busy, I made sure to keep an organised workplace by completing side duties such as refilling condiments, polishing cutlery etc. I always made sure to provide an uplifting atmosphere for both my team members and customers by warmly greeting them to make them feel comfortable. If a customer was to have a complaint I would make sure to deal with this professionally to ensure the happiness of customers by promptly notifying restaurant managers and escalating issues/concerns.
