To carry out the effective movement, storage and control of customer owned cable and submersible plant stocks held in Portland and any other Depot. To perform maintenance duties and special project work at the Cable Building and Training Building and on secondment as required.


· The safe execution of any duties that may be required in the storage, movement and disposal of submersible plant as required by cable maintenance and Marine Plant & Storage Facility, Portland agreements.

· The operation of cable machinery, lifting equipment and any other equipment associated with the movement of cable and plant as directed by the MPSF Manager or his/her deputy.

· To perform general work required for the site maintenance and not necessarily associated with the cable storage function.

· To maintain all depot plant, machinery and associated areas in good clean working order and to ensure operational readiness at all required times.

· To work on detached duty (National & International) as required by specific cable installation or maintenance projects.

· To work with temporary staff on cable tank and other related duties and to instruct and supervise such staff, to ensure safe and efficient practices are employed.

· To perform operations in accordance with the statutory Global Marine safety policies or general procedures.

· Assist with the mobilisation/demobilisation of project plant and equipment.

· Report to the Portland Depot Plant Manager, manage personnel cover and availability for Depot Technicians and Contract Staff for the effective loading and discharging of all vessels in and out of normal working hours, in accordance with requirements of Contract KPI’s.

· Work with the Portland Depot Plant Manager and Depot Test Engineer, complete electronic inputs in the Depot stock control system in the transfer of plant ensuring accuracy of all plant movements. File hardcopies of all transfers for future auditing requirements.

· Maintain Depot electronic maintenance system for maintenance, repairs and inspections associated with Depot cable machinery and building facilities. Ensure internal & outsourced maintenance is carried out in a timely fashion and records are maintained on an electronic format.

· Provide main point of contact for agency staff account, ensure TBT’s are given and recorded, staff attendance and time are recorded and agree invoicing amounts with Agency.

· Supervise temporary staff on cable tank or other related duties ensuring that they have the training and expertise necessary to perform at high level and undergo depot inductions, TBT’s and maintain records of these and ensure safe and efficient practices are employed.

· Mentor Cable Technicians to complete unsupervised depot set up and load/discharge operations, ensuring the safe execution of their duties.

· Liaise and report to the Portland Depot Marine Plant Manager on a regular basis.

· Implement and manage sample audit plan for customer owned equipment, to be carried out against contractual requirements and that records are kept.
