In my time at Amec Nuclear UK I worked for the, Development & Test Services department based at Birchwood in Warrington.
My job as a Mechanical Technician mainly consisted of carrying out mechanical assembly work and plant maintenance on test rigs and laboratories for the nuclear industry.

I started a 3 year apprenticeship in Mechanical Fitting at the ecITB training school in Tipton, Dudley were I learnt the basic practical skills I would need as a Mechanical Fitter. During this time I also attended Warwickshire College in Royal Leamington Spa on block release where I was taught the theory.
After 12 months I was put on placement with NIS Ltd in Chorley, Lancashire. Here over the next two years I developed my skills and gained experience of working in a workshop environment.
For much of my time here I shadowed other fitters, machinists, designers, welders and quality/test inspectors. In order to complete my NVQ I had to work for each of these departments, and complete a certain amount work within each.
In the time I had that wasn’t spent working towards my NVQ I slotted into the fitting team and assisted in the manufacture and testing of various projects.
In my spare time I enjoy hiking, open water swimming, and circuit training. I also like to keep busy with personal projects. I have recently completed a full back to brick refurbishment of my home, I also like restore classic Minis and bikes.
I have a full UK Driving Licence and I’m a non-smoker in good health.
