Marius Jonikas

In my role as an HGV driver, I was responsible for making large deliveries across the UK, ensuring that all loads were securely fastened and delivered on time and without damage. I performed my first full HGV vehicle check and gained essential knowledge in basic vehicle servicing and maintenance. This position allowed me to build valuable hands-on experience in HGV driving, while also improving my ability to maintain high levels of concentration during long shifts. I ensured that vehicles were loaded safely, carried out required safety checks, and planned efficient and economical routes to meet delivery deadlines.

In this role, I was responsible for overseeing the efficient and safe storage and dispatch of warehoused products, while also managing staff, building cohesive teams, training employees, and monitoring product performance. I developed strong managerial skills, enabling me to run departmental operations effectively, reduce costs, and ensure timely deliveries. My responsibilities included supervising the logistics of receiving, warehousing, and dispatch operations; meeting regularly with warehouse leads to assess performance and implement improvement strategies; and reporting on key KPIs to senior management to support data-driven decision-making.

I was responsible for leading a small team of warehouse operatives, coordinating daily workloads, and ensuring efficient order picking operations. I provided training to new team members, motivated the team to meet key performance indicators (KPIs), and maintained a productive and positive work environment. This experience greatly enhanced my leadership abilities and strengthened my capacity to perform under pressure while consistently striving to exceed expectations. My responsibilities also included using warehouse picking systems such as WES and Oracle (Logistics), ensuring all tasks were completed within tight deadlines, and managing timely deliveries. Additionally, I was accountable for allocating daily tasks and offering ongoing support and guidance to team members.

Responsible for order picking, stock rotation, and overall stock management within a warehouse environment on a day-to-day basis. Ensured the accurate and safe loading of lorries and containers, consistently adhering to safety protocols. Gained valuable hands-on experience operating various types of forklifts, particularly reach trucks, significantly enhancing my driving proficiency and ability to handle goods safely. Regularly reported to the Department Manager and maintained strong working relationships with colleagues. Key duties also included preparing orders for dispatch and ensuring efficient stock rotation.

Responsible for picking, packing, and delivering products to designated areas within the distribution centre. Throughout this role, I developed strong organizational skills and gained practical experience across various warehousing tasks. Duties included allocating goods within the warehouse, accurately recording their locations and quantities in the system, assisting with stock takes when required, and reporting any damaged or missing stock to ensure inventory accuracy.

Worked on a variety of construction projects in Lithuania, where I gained valuable transferable skills and hands-on experience that have positively contributed to both my personal development and career progression. Key responsibilities included layering and smoothing concrete for foundations, floors, and beams, as well as assembling and dismantling shuttering to support setting concrete. This role enhanced my understanding of construction processes and reinforced my ability to work efficiently in physically demanding environments.

Worked in a ship manufacturing company where I have been involved in general metal processing, welding and assembly tasks of the ship hulls. During this experience, I have gained practical knowledge of different welding techniques as well as an ability to maintain highly productive during long working hours.
