Goal-oriented Teaching Assistant caring with students of different learning levels and backgrounds. Always ready to step in and positively impact student learning or teacher wellbeing with timely support. Reliable in maintaining orderly spaces and preparing daily materials.
I work as a cover Teaching Assistant within different schools and classroom settings ranging from Secondary, Primary and Nursery schools. I assist students and teachers with classroom tasks, preparing learning materials and helping students who may need extra help by fostering engagement and participation.
I assisted in the improvement of the social, mental and educational needs of an individual student as their one to one teaching assistant. This was conducted under the guidance of the safeguarding leads of the school. I supported in monitoring their day to day progress and also observe their performance in class and towards other pupils and teachers.
I assisted primarily in drafting consultancy contract documents and I also helped countless times in designing logistics for the endless projects and programmes the UNDP Gambia team runs. I was exposed to the UN's administrative and policy style by working under the procurement department because they are one of the key programme departments ensuring the smooth running of projects and consultancies of the UNDP and sometimes sister agencies.
I engaged in Community outreach volunteerism during covid 19 before lockdown. I used to travel to communities on a weekly basis to sensitize people on the Corona virus, what the signs and symptoms are, and how one can protect themselves from catching it. Most of the communities I went comprised of mainly old people, because they are the most vulnerable people and my team and I ensured that they were receiving the right information about the precautions, what to do in case they notice covid signs and symptoms and most importantly how to protect themselves, all these programmes were run whilst recognizing social distancing and proper masking standards.
I assisted in research, development and implementation of so many programs and projects. One of my main projects was the community outreach programmes we conducted with partner organisations. The programmes entailed reaching out to women and girls in vulnerable communities on sensitization and engagement sessions on harmful practices like child marriage, FGM etc in the efforts to enhance health and well-being of women and girls. Some of the other projects also included engaging with women from communities and schools to teach them some skills and discuss issues affecting them in their different backgrounds.
I assisted the director to communicate with families of victims of mental health to keep up with their well being, , making sure they are going for regular visits to the hospital and that they are taking their medications. I was responsible of keeping track of names and contacts of all mental health victims that have registered under our "Waheh ko" programme. This programme was basically set up for victims of mental health and their families where I keep track of their treatment records, get them help from psychiatric hospitals when necessary and provide their families with useful information about what to do in certain situations and who to turn to for help.
