I am an enthusiastic Consultant General Paediatrician, awarded my CCT by the North Western Deanery in March 2021, and I have built my career around the acute care of the most sick neonates, infants and children.
During my general paediatric training I undertook a twelve-month rotation in a 21-bed Paediatric ICU with an adjoining 16-bed HDU, where I developed a passion for the pathophysiology and clinical management of critically unwell children.
Keen to deepen that critical-care expertise, I spent 12 months as a senior clinical fellow at St Mary’s PICU, Imperial College London, managing high-complexity tertiary referrals, and gained expertise at managing the paediatric airway, managing circulatory collapse and neurological compromise, as well as gaining a working knowledge of sedation and analgesia in sick children. A subsequent 6 month fellowship with KIDSNTS—the West Midlands paediatric retrieval service—saw me lead a significant number of neonatal inter-hospital transport and retrievals, which has augmented my decision-making in high-pressure, time-critical environments.
Since my consultant appointment in 2022 I continued to focus on acute paediatrics and HDU care. At Russells Hall Hospital I took up the role of Paediatric Critical Care Lead and Paediatric ED liaison and during my 12 months at the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, Brighton, I was part of a consultant team managing a busy 10-bed Paediatric HDU, where there is recognised strong expertise for using non-invasive ventilation (CPAP/BIPAP) in the sickest children.
I am highly motivated to join a forward-thinking paediatric team environment that delivers exemplary front-line care, that is committed to drive service development through robust governance and quality-improvement initiatives, I am also committed to help foster a culture of continuous learning via high-impact education and simulation. Central to all these objectives is my passion for collaborative team working.
All of this I aim to do with the utmost humility, kindness and respect.
