Work History

Senior Formulation Scientist

Nutrition group PLC
08.2024 - 11.2024
  • Worked as a senior formulation scientist with Nutrition group PLC. This involved the evaluation of dry powders and tabletting technologies for application in the food, sports and veterinary fields. I also worked in the evaluation of novel powder formulations to assess their utility in new product development.

Medical/Scientific Writer

Academic Minds
02.2022 - 08.2024
  • Worked freelance as a technical writer in the fields of science and medicine with Academic Minds. This involved writing academic pieces for various institutions as a template for students.

Carer for Terminal Relative

03.2017 - 02.2022
  • Took time out from research to help in the care of a sick family member.
  • Sabbatical

Analytical Research Associate

Queen's University Belfast
10.2016 - 03.2017
  • Worked on the development of a device allowing doctors to detect drug metabolites at minute quantities. The results achieved showed metabolites could be achieved at nanomolar quantities in bodily fluids.

Formulation/Drug Delivery Research Assistant

Chromadex/QUB
11.2010 - 04.2016
  • During my PhD studies I worked on the design of novel nanoparticle drug carriers to help in the treatment of infectious diseases. This led to the publication of three papers in high impact medical journals. The essential outcome being the increase in efficacy of the conventional treatment by 9.5 times. In addition the design of novel nanocarriers allowed us the achieve specific targeting of drugs to the lung for targeted treatment which had previously not been possible.
