Marcus Bego

I am an enthusiastic and responsible student with a strong interest in diagnostic radiography and medical imaging. I recently completed clinical work experience at St Thomas’ Hospital, where I shadowed dental professionals using X-ray imaging in patient care across both outpatient and inpatient settings, observing how imaging supports accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Throughout this experience, I developed an understanding of patient communication and the importance of precision in diagnostic procedures. I am keen to continue developing my knowledge within a healthcare environment and contribute positively to a clinical team. During my placement, I observed how effective communication and reassurance play a key role in helping patients feel comfortable during procedures, as staff explained each stage clearly, answering questions calmly, and helped reduce patient anxiety. I developed a deeper appreciation for the responsibility involved in working with patients and the need to always follow strict safety and infection control procedures. I am particularly interested in the combination of technical skills, scientific knowledge, and patient interaction that diagnostic radiography requires, including the precise positioning of patients, accurate image acquisition, attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols to ensure high-quality diagnostic images. I am eager to continue learning within a healthcare setting, develop my clinical awareness, and contribute positively to a professional team environment. A summer position would allow me to gain further hands-on experience while supporting the department in a reliable and enthusiastic manner.
