Responsible for managing a team of three Engagement and Technical Support Officers, one Technical Business Support Officer and one Graduate Data Analyst Technician. The team are the first point of contact with the general public, Ward Members, voluntary sector and statutory agencies in relation to traffic management & road safety issues throughout the local authority area.
The role of the team also includes the processing of various Traffic Regulation Orders(TRO), mediation between communities, individuals, other stakeholders and the Council in order to find sustainable solutions to traffic management & road safety issues.
As manager of the team I have overall responsibility for their day to day workload, management of sickness records, annual leave and time sheets.
I am responsible for overseeing a £400,000 Small Intervention Scheme budget over a two year period. This budget is used to provide a number of traffic management and road safety schemes across the borough, these could be as diverse as the provision of a number of Designated Disabled Parking Bays or Traffic Regulation Orders for waiting restrictions (single or double yellow lines) to the provision of school warning signs or SLOW road markings.
The objective of the scheme is to provide minor improvement works for road safety or traffic management in the borough within in a relatively short timeframe. Engagement and consultation with Ward Members and other stakeholders forms the basis of the schemes which are progressed, this includes requests from attendance at Community Action Plan (CAP) meetings and Networking Events, working alongside colleagues in the Council's Neighbourhoods Service. Ensuring that Ward Members and other stakeholders are continually kept up to date on timescales involved in the progression of schemes.
The continued provision and enhancement of this funding in to a second year enables proactive engagement to take place with Ward Members, stakeholders and the general public to improve road safety and traffic management in the borough and also ensuring that the Council is seen to be providing such infrastructure on a local, community-based level.
