Establishing the Spanish department and making outstanding teaching consistent, improving the quality of teaching, and therefore already foreseeing positive progress. We have recently been inspected by Ofsted, and the observations for the Spanish department were very positive, especially as it is currently a single-person department.
Creating an inclusive curriculum, tracking progress, evaluating outcomes, and developing challenging assessments. Adaptive teaching is the norm, as our population includes 43% SEND students.
Using data for assessment and planning, targeting students to improve Progress 8 and overall attainment.
School targets: 0.5 Progress; consistently proficient teaching based on GTR observations; a mastery curriculum. In 2019/20, the GCSE average grade was 6.1 with a Progress score of 1.02. In 2020/21, the GCSE average grade was 6 with a Progress score of 1.21. Teaching was consistently at a foundational/proficient level.
The MFL department is proud to have closed the learning gap between boys and girls, as well as the gap between PP and non-PP students, through a variety of targeted teaching strategies that have been developed and implemented since 2018.
