I bring 12 years of developing experience within mental health services, having started as a Healthcare Assistant, progressed to Assistant Practitioner, and qualifying last year as a Registered Mental Health Nurse. Working on the ward has given me invaluable skills, resilience, and a strong clinical foundation that will always be my foundation in my practice.
Working in an acute psychiatric inpatient unit has provided me with extensive clinical experience, strong risk assessment skills, and a deep commitment to provide a trauma informed care, person-centred and recovery focused.
I am experienced in completing dynamic risk assessments, including suicide and self-harm risk, aggression, safeguarding concerns, exploitation, cuckooing and vulnerabilities.
I strongly believe that effective risk management is embedded in collaborative working, empowering individuals and building trust while ensuring proportionate and least restrictive interventions are being put in place.
I am confident in identifying early signs of relapse and support individuals in developing coping mechanism that reduce further crisis escalation and possible hospital readmission.
I have experience working within the wider MDT, engaging social workers, housing officers and housing providers, and I consider I have the necessary skills to approach a person holistically to promote recovery.
In my current role, I have taken on increasing leadership responsibilities, including shift coordination, supporting junior staff, dealing with conflict and advocating for service users’ needs during MDT meetings engaging in positive risk taking.
I am experienced in identifying and escalating safeguarding concerns appropriately, working in partnership with the Trust and local safeguarding teams, while ensuring the individual voice is heard even during crisis.
My approach to care is with cultural respect, I have the awareness of how stigma, discrimination, trauma, and social inequalities impact care outcomes. I actively promote inclusivity and a non-judgmental practice and have a strong belief that leading by example can have a beneficial impact in any environment I work.
I prioritise building therapeutic relationships founded on trust, transparency, and respect. I remain calm under pressure, and I have developed an excellent resilience through reflection after repeated exposure to emotionally challenging situations.
I am focused on optimising incidents through early intervention recognising early warning signs, being proactive in engagement and prioritising 1:1 engagement with individuals at increased risk and I actively use reflective practice to identify areas where optimisation of the daily clinical tasks can achieve a better outcome, improving clinical KPIs.
I strongly believe that high quality care combines clinical competence with humanity and proximity to the individuals receiving care.
I am deeply passionate about providing safe care, using least restrictive interventions, and person-centred care that helps individuals feel heard, valued, and empowered in their recovery journey.
