Teaching Experience

Teaching is an activity I enjoy. I am very enthusiastic about continuing and expanding my role in education. My objective throughout the activities listed below has been to achieve the development of high quality education, which I see as an important aspect to the development of effective patient care.

  • Actively involved in Care of Elderly teaching sessions including regular Teaching Forums for Medical students where I am able to give high quality presentations. I am fully familiar with the use of PowerPoint and multimedia to enhance my presentations.

  • Involved in teaching third and fifth year medical students attached to the firm in many of my appointments, including my most recent. Familiar with meeting the challenges of a teaching hospital post and prioritizing appropriately this important aspect of a teaching hospital position.
  • Actively involved in OSCE's to examine medical students and provide feedback later.
  • Undertook formal consultant organized bedside teaching of students specifically regarding clinical examination.
  • Guide medical students to explore concepts with engagement and learning-focused activities through real time cases and scenarios.
  • Adapted teaching methods and materials to meet medical student's varying needs.

 Strive to improve my personal assertiveness, time management and leadership skills through personal practice in my recent posts. I am committed to further development of my managerial skills both through exposure to management decisions and through attending formal training.
 Regularly attend Clinical Governance meetings in order to keep myself up to date about Hospital management and patient’s wellbeing, in order to improve and safeguard high standards of care.
 Maintain liaison with bed managers and secretarial staff to organize elective admissions despite bed crises in General Medicine.
 Developed my appreciation for the role of audit, clinical guidelines and complaints in improving service quality. Believe that medical audit is one of the principal and most important procedures for maintaining and improving care to the patient.
 Possess good communication/team skills and believe in maintaining fruitful rapport with patients, patient’s relatives and hospital staff. Consistently receiving positive feedback about this aspect of my care.
 Continually strive for total coordination and multi-disciplinary participation in determining best appropriate care for patients.

  • Lead for Clinical Governance: I have been a lead for Clinical Governance within my Department over a decade now where I am responsible for organizing and holding Clinical Governance sessions on am a monthly basis. The role entails in delivering and presenting Governance data for the department involving risk assessment as well as cascading the minutes of the meeting to the department attendees.
  • Lead for Continence: My role entails supervising and providing support to Continence Nurse specialists. Reviewing Continence and catheter policies as well as conducting Clinical Audits on continence and catheters.
