During my time at PNS Shifa Hospital, I rotated through multiple acute departments, gaining comprehensive clinical exposure. I assisted in the assessment, triage, and immediate care of patients presenting with emergencies such as major trauma, cardiac events, and respiratory compromise. I achieved proficiency in core procedures, including IV cannulation, ABG sampling, catheterization, NG tube placement, and sterile wound care. Additionally, I developed skills in 12-lead ECG interpretation, emergency medication administration, and multidisciplinary resuscitation (CPR and airway management). This high-pressure environment sharpened my rapid decision-making, communication, and efficiency in critical situations.
During my time at District Headquarters Teaching Hospital, Rawalpindi, I gained direct frontline experience in both the Accident & Emergency department and the Pulmonary Outpatient Department. In addition to shadowing a Consultant Chest Specialist, I actively assisted with history taking and physical examinations, while working closely with nursing and paramedical staff. This experience strengthened my clinical communication, refined my diagnostic approach in acute respiratory medicine, and enhanced my ability to function effectively within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
During my two-week voluntary placement at the GP practice, I gained valuable insight into the operational dynamics of NHS primary care. Under supervision, I undertook key administrative and practice support duties, including reception management, electronic data entry, and record management. Working efficiently within tight deadlines, I demonstrated high reliability, effective communication, and dedication to supporting the practice team in delivering smooth patient administration
