Summary

In 2021 I was lucky enough to start teaching at the CRC School in Clontarf. I have been a substitute teacher there ever since. Last year my role was as class teacher to Senior Primary 3, this year I have been fulfilling the role of Resource Teacher, working with children aged four to 19. Throughout my time at this school, I have worked very successfully as a central part of the care teams for many children - social care team, educational team, and medical team - maintaining records and being the primary point of contact. I truly believe my current studies and all that I have learned working at the CRC gives me the experience necessary to fulfil a role within the social care community with care and efficiency. I want to advocate for those who are not listened to and help them to gain their voice and place within our communities. My role within the CRC spurred me on to start my Masters in Inclusive and Special Education with Hibernia College. I am eager to learn and work toward a better future for children and adults with additional needs, be they social, emotional, intellectual, or behavioural. I graduated in 1999 from All Hallows College with a BA in English Literature and Theology, a degree that has helped me foster a holistic approach to education and caregiving. Throughout my degree programme I spent a lot of time in the classroom - in both teaching and assisting roles. Upon graduation however I changed tack and focused my career for many years in business. I have worked as a legal researcher, a PA in a large accountancy firm and have run my own editorial business and property management company. I have taken two career breaks to raise my children and now, at last, can concentrate on returning to the vocation that has always been closest to my heart - providing care, support and education to the most vulnerable in our society. I have also completed an SNA level 5 course with Portobello College to help further my understanding of the needs of others.
