Work history

Group Finance Administrator

First Fix Plastics Ltd
Caithness
2012.01 - 2026.04
  • I work closely with the Group Finance Manager, undertaking a wide range of tasks across the businesses. Initially, this involved five companies, which were consolidated into three in 2018.
  • I was originally based at the Gateshead branch until 2020, when I relocated to Caithness and successfully transitioned to remote working from home.
  • Daily, I download receipts from the bank and distribute them to relevant staff, carry out bank reconciliations for both current and invoice finance accounts using Intact iQ, and post bank payments.
  • I also reconcile invoice finance accounts on a monthly basis and submit them to the factoring company.
  • In addition, I prepare supplier payments by reconciling supplier accounts to statements, processing payments through Intact iQ, and completing transactions via the bank, including ad hoc payments as required.
  • I am responsible for posting and reconciling credit card receipts, and I handle customer and supplier queries via e-mail and telephone.
  • I process the monthly payroll using Sage, maintaining employee records, and managing holiday records.
  • I provide cover for cash flow management in the absence of the Finance Manager. I have also previously undertaken credit control responsibilities for one of the companies, prior to the introduction of a dedicated credit controller role across all three companies.

Clerical Assistant

Highland Council – Castletown Primary School
2007.01 - 2011.01
  • I acted as the first point of contact for all visitors to the school, whether in person, by telephone, or via email.
  • I worked closely with the Head Teacher, providing essential support while she was also committed to teaching duties, which required me to use a high level of initiative and work independently.
  • As School Secretary, I provided comprehensive clerical support to all staff members. This included drafting and typing correspondence, newsletters, and letters to parents using Microsoft Word, as well as updating the school handbook. I used Excel to maintain spreadsheets relating to staff cover, absences, and financial records.
  • I regularly used systems such as Pecos, Oracle, and Cardplus to source, order, and process purchase invoices. In addition, I maintained pupil and staff records using the e1 system, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information on attendance, personal details, and medical records.
  • I was also responsible for managing petty cash and banking income from school activities such as trips, swimming, and uniform sales. This included processing payments to and from the school fund account, maintaining accurate financial records on spreadsheets, and carrying out annual balancing and audit preparation for this account.
  • My responsibilities also included arranging supply cover, as well as coordinating transport, accommodation, and visits for school trips and staff training courses.
  • Confidentiality was essential in this role, as I regularly liaised with external agencies, including social services, health professionals, and other education authorities.

Credit Controller

Stoneacre Motor Group Fiat & Citroen, Hyde
Hyde
2001.01 - 2006.01
  • I worked in a busy accounts office as part of a small team, where I was responsible for credit control, including debt chasing by telephone and letter, and occasionally progressing claims through the small claims court.
  • I carried out daily banking for all departments and maintained responsibility for petty cash. I also performed bank reconciliations and provided cover for Purchase Ledger during periods of sickness and annual leave.
  • During my time at Stoneacre, I used accounting systems including KBA and CS3.

Credit Controller

Horners Motor Group Rover, Manchester

  • In 1998, I was promoted to Assistant to the Accountant. In this role, I travelled between three dealerships, reconciling nominal accounts and preparing reports to support the production of the management accounts.

Credit Controller
