- Leadership - I led a Mental Health Awareness course in Sixth Form, in which I arranged for myself and other volunteers to present educational classes on the importance of mental health to students aged 11–16 This enabled me to provide direction and vision, motivate and inspire others and create an environment conducive to success by promoting communication and collaboration
- Strategic planning- During this course, I organised bi-weekly sessions which focused on different aspects of mental health These sessions were sectioned into parts, starting with an introduction to the weeks topic, providing necessary knowledge to enhance the students understanding This was then followed by interactive activities, which ultimately demonstrated the importance of sustaining good mental wellbeing in order to lead a fulfilling and successful life The use of a strategic plan meant i could define my priorities and implement these accordingly, leading to the provision of the course to be much more effective
- Public speaking- The completion of this course allowed me to gain more confidence when speaking in front of an audience, which boosted my communication skills, allowed me to become a thought leader, and enhanced my credibility
- Problem-solving- I have also completed a MOOC on Forensic Psychology; an online course focusing on the investigation process of a murder, in which I took the role of the lead detective This required me to apply my knowledge of the crime to effectively solve the case, based upon the relevant evidence Subsequently, developing problem solving skills enhances analytical thinking and inspires better time-management
- Calm under pressure- in completing the MOOC, I furthered my ability to remain calm under pressure by partitioning the tasks at hand so i could approach them methodically Despite the time pressure of solving the case, and the increasing evidence at hand, remaining calm enhanced my ability to concentrate on the task, boost productivity, and improve my ability to deal with the situation effectively This is a vital skill required in the field of work i am interested in
- Social media marketing- in running my own jewellery business, i developed increased brand awareness, allowing me to tailor content to engage the interests of my target demographic This means i gained customer insight which as a result furthered my ability to provide helpful, responsive customer service This contributed to my overall brand success in the digital realm
