Work History

Manufacturing Engineer

JCB Heavy Products
Beamhurst, Staffordshire
01.2020 - Current
  • Leading NPI (New Product Introduction) Projects - Hydradig Pothole Pro which is an award-winning product, Hydradig Stg V and Hydradig Tilt Rotator. This lead to me learning how to manage a project and what processes are involved in creating a new product but implementing one into a manufacturing industry.
  • Managing Day to Day Shop Floor Issue- Tooling, Programming, Fault Diagnostic, Fit and Functions, IT Issues and System issues.
  • Developing New Systems to support the shop floor- OES, Digital Torque Tooling. Implementing these types of systems has help with giving traceability with in the factory which is help with drive warranty down. An example is the digital torque tooling which was implemented along with pivotware has been used on 524 machine and that means over 52,924 joints have been covered by DC tooling and this has lead to only 4 of the joints leaking which is a massive improvement for our external warranty.
  • Developing New Factory Layouts in 2D and 3D. When developing these layouts which has lead to learning the processes of the areas and then be able to take what is currently being done and then looking at how it can be improved. An example is there was a bottle next where in an area only so many machine could go through due to SMV so myself and others looked at the area and designed and implemented a new layout of two lanes where it allowed for more machines to be able to pass through and split the work load to help with the increase in volume.
  • Reviewing Current Process and looking at how we can improve them. This has involved myself Designing new production equipment for enhanced efficiency such as assembly fixtures which has reduces SMVs and improved the quality of the product.
  • Timing Process and reviewing videos to see where time is lost and acting on that time lost.
  • Completing Line Balance for Assembly Lines.
  • Leading Cost Saving Activities.
  • Designing Jigs and Fixtures for enhanced efficiency
  • Creating of SOPs and Assembly Instructions for shop floor.
  • Leading Product Improvement Activities to benefit the Operators.
  • Fabricating Jigs and Fixture for the Shop Floor.
  • Implemented a New Training Facility to help bring the new starters to the standard we expect when they start work on the line to help ensure that we maintain the quality which we work hard for.
  • Forcing on DPU and how we can reduce it, this has been done by implementing projects like DC Tooling to reduce warranty and operator guidance to ensure right first time.
  • Closing out Near Misses and Hazard Spots to Improve Operators Safety.
  • Preparing and Raising Capital Plan. Raising and proposing capital projects is done to help improve the business by investing money to help save money.
  • Leading Projects involving Augmented Reality for Operator Guidance.
  • Leading Projects with Supplier to develop new equipment and stillages to suit our requirements.
