I spent a week out of half-term for BAE work experience in Project Management and Business.
Enhanced project management and business skills through practical work experience with BAE.
Some skills I learnt are:
- interpersonal and communication skills alongside a team, incorporating new ideas and understanding how a project is reliant on a range of teams skills
- Risk planning in theory scenario tasks, involving recourse management, staff allocation, plan B's and potential set-backs accounted for.
-Problem solving skills, such as compromising, understanding causing factors of issues, forecasting issues and economic factors being potential risks/benefits.
- Organisation and ensuring the team had a suitable role, recourse and plan to complete the scenario style tasks
- Leadership and ensuring everyone has equal voice in tasks meanwhile maintaining direction
I spent my year 12 work experience week with New Balance. I worked alongside my uncle who is the head of sales for Europe's Apparel clothing line.
My role was to aid presentations for meetings, creating Excel spreadsheets to present to other sales teams, meanwhile gain knowledge and experience from other teams such as customer service, data analysts, marketing teams and designers.
Some skills I learnt from this are as follows:
- Understanding how data guides business direction and decision making
- How communication is key within large businesses, ensuring all teams are up-to-date on current affairs
- Sales skills such as understanding competitors advancement and how to be one step ahead
- Critical thinking and presentation skills, such as being able to speak to a board of individuals and express ideas coherently whilst adapting to questions under pressure
- Cultures of a business and understand how a product may reflect the values of a business
- Understanding the complexity of a business and how everyone's role is fundamental to success
- How design must be constantly trailed and thorough to produce quality work
