Clinical Experience

LD Physiotherapy - Learning Disability and Neuro Specialist - Community

  • Communication - Working with a range of learning disabilities meant I had to adapt to individual communication styles and needs. For example, using Makaton and understanding sensory needs.
  • Approach to complexity - Working with individuals who presented with biopsychosocial complexity taught me how to effectively deconstruct these challenges and stay focused and deliver tailored care to meet diverse needs.


The University of Nottingham - Physiotherapy Education

  • Project management - Arranged, conducted, and analysed focus group interviews with 2nd year physiotherapy students at UoN to gather data on the new Problem Based Learning (PBL) pedagogy. This allowed the department to reflect on and improve the quality of the course.
  • Teaching - Completed 5 weeks of teaching practical and clinical skills.


Mansfield Community Hospital - Wards

  • Working with MDT - Worked closely with Occupational Therapists and social workers to support rehabilitation and ensure patients went home safely, organising equipment and community care.
  • Lead weekly exercise class designed to be fun and engaging for all, involving group activities between patients.


Queens Medical Centre - Fracture Clinic Outpatients

  • Managing a caseload - I was responsible for assessing patients and creating an individualised exercise programme for various bony and soft tissue injuries.
  • Time Management - A fast paced environment with back to back appointments meant I had to be efficient and careful.


Swadlincote HC - Integrated Community Team 

  • Discharge planning - Time split between community rehabilitation centre and home visits helping patients regain to safely return home.
  • Created a leaflet called "Lets Talk COPD" for patients which included information about the condition and how to manage it.


Nottingham City Hospital - MSK Outpatients 

  • Caseload mostly consisted of spinal patients such as Non Specific Lower Back Pain, mechanical injuries, spinal stenosis, and post surgery.
