Bromsgrove

Summary

I believe I have a positive and bubbly character towards any employers and employees, while also ensuring I provide the best service to any customers and be the kind person I am at heart. The basic manners and positive attitude I hold, provide me with social skills and the ability to communicate with people professionally and still be able to maintain a sense of care and support. For years I have been part of a dance academy based in Bromsgrove, I believe this has helped me work efficiently in teams and independently when necessary. I am a positive person who will provide the correct care and service to customers and people of society while also maintaining a professional state and maturing and gaining new skills as time goes on. As well as having social skills and being able to communicate effectively, I am also an organised and motivated individual who does not give up easily and will put everything into a position or situation to result in the best possible outcome I can.

The New Inn
Bournheath, Bromsgrove
07.2021 - 01.2026
  • The New Inn is a great bar and restaurant and has such an exciting and calming vibe. I really enjoy working with the team and ensuring the customers enjoy their time there, this is why I find it important to get to know the locals and the service they prefer. My job role is a bartender and on occasion waitressing in the restaurant, having worked there a while I am able to amend to different roles when necessary. I have also been involved in helping new co-workers get used to the environment and helping them change barrels and any other information they need to help them work well in a bar setting.
  • This is a useful skill and means I can continue working under different environments or with different co-workers. In my time at the pub, I have increased my knowledge of working in a bar environment and I am able to work in a fast-paced setting and know when to improve the services, as the customers should always feel comfortable and happy as well as the other co-workers being in a safe and happy environment.
  • Working in such a social setting has really improved my communication skills, as I can help any customers in any situations and be there as a friend to colleagues. Working in this type of setting has made me even more welcoming and wanting to enjoy a range of different people’s company either as customers or friends.
  • I would recommend to others to work in hospitality at some point in their lives as you open up so much as a person by learning to communicate to many different people and find yourself really wanting to improve the environment to please the customers.

Dance assistant

Stage Door Dance Academy
09.2019 - 01.2026
  • In my dance academy there are up to 8 older senior girls that support each other and the other students in our school. We all work on a set rota and take it in turns to be a supportive dance assistant during the younger classes, we maintain teamworking skills by helping our teacher with the young dancers and we improve our leadership skills as we are often teaching to the dance class and left to prepare them for the class and activities. I support the younger classes of aged 2–8-year-olds and help them understand how to work in a dance team and help them through learning choreography for competitions and shows. Being a dance assistant has improved my communication skills as I am not only helping the children but also talking to the parents and ensuring every child and family is comfortable and happy in our dance lessons and feeling as though they are appreciated by all in the dance school.

Work experience at a nursery

Castle Nursery
10.2019 - 02.2020
  • For my health and social course, I took in A-levels, we each had to work in an environment where we took on the role of being a care worker/assistant. This opened my eyes to how hard jobs in care working are and improved my understanding of the job role, which gave me the information I needed to pass my health and social course.
  • Every Wednesday morning from 9-11am I would go to the nursery and help care for the children and support the other carers with jobs around the nursery. I would get involved in fun activities with the children like painting and decorating, which I found would engage them more as they had someone new in the environment to show off their work to. I enjoyed this role as I want to work with children in the future so this helped increase my knowledge of younger children and improving my ways of communicating with the younger children in a way that engaged them and ensured they were enjoying their days. Me spending the mornings at the nursery also helped the nursery if on that day they are low on staff or need someone to do any extra jobs, for example tidy away or make sure all the children have had their food. This meant I worked as a team with the other staff and volunteers present at that time, this improved my skills to work in a team and be there to help new people feel more comfortable or support them in any way I can. This is a skill I use in my every day life now and which is very important for all to have, as people in our society need the support of their colleagues/volunteers around them on a day-to-day basis.

Skills

  • Listening
  • During education or other activities, I show my listening skills through understanding other opinions on particular topics and applying them with my own knowledge I accept constructive criticism from peers to help with work such as coursework or essays and any educational applications, I take on board any improvements or changes people believe I should make, and I try to be a better version of myself through the advice and support given As being in a team during dance, I believe I have gained listening skills as I take in the choreography and support others through our work while accepting any improvements that I must make to ensure our team is the best there is
  • Teamwork
  • Being part of a dance group since the age of 4 has improved my ability to work in any environment and ensure I am a supportive network for others involved and also able to play my part through asking for any advice I need and put my caring personality to work, during any competitions or general classes I act as a supportive and caring network in my dance teams, which I believe are such important aspects needed for life My experience during GCSEs and sixth form has also improved my teamwork because I have had to listen to others and work with them to ensure our knowledge is clear One main example of this was being a part of our charity fun run in 2020, as I was cheering others on while also setting up and helping clear up after the day had done All the volunteers that day worked well together and provided jobs for everyone to do, which made the day run smoothly and therefore exceed over our estimated amount we were raising for local charities
  • Staying positive
  • Throughout all my GCSEs and A-level mock exams I worked as hard as I could to secure good grades and make myself proud while also keeping a positive mind-set and making sure that the people around me were also prepared for my outcome and results from education To ensure they were positive and stress-free we all revised together and helped each other through the process and kept a positive attitude for all around us I believe that having a positive mindset and ensuring every decision is made through a level-headed space improves the result of the situation In a work environment I would ensure other colleagues are happy and positive during a stressful time or busy hours, this will ensure that all our efforts go to good use by improving the service and business
