Hello, I'm Lucy! I'm currently looking for a new role after taking two years out of work to raise my baby daughter, Robin.
I have over 15 years experience working as a registered dental nurse, predominantly in private practice. After having my daughter I am now seeking to transition into a receptionist role where I can use my knowledge of dental procedures and patient care to provide a really welcoming, helpful and supportive front of house experience while still being able to support the clinicians and the rest of the team.
I'm enthusiastic, confident and keen and I've learned a lot through my work life about communication and compassion especially with vulnerable and anxious patients. I'd say that I am both professional and friendly and would be an adaptable member of the team. I'm well versed in R4 and SOE, computer literate, and confident that I can learn quickly on new systems. I enjoy being busy, having a nice rapport with patients and colleagues and have a really good eye for the finer details.
As a registered dental nurse including reception cover I have worked alongside the dentist & dental hygienist assisting in a range of dental procedures including experience with aligner treatments, implant surgery and sedation in addition to routine and cosmetic treatments.
My role included providing chairside assistance for all dental procedures. Setting up the surgery, timekeeping and cleaning down in an effective manner. Ensuring hight standards and good timekeeping. Instrument management and maintenance. Stock control and ordering. Strict cross infection control. Equipment maintenance, thorough clinical note taking and treatment planning. Billing, accounts, auditing, lab work, referrals, recalls.
On top of all clinical duties, my role included welcoming and supporting the patient on their journey through the practice, creating a calm and warm environment to put them at ease.
Planning and booking appointments with an understanding of the different procedures and timings required.
Liaising with labs to ensure work was collected, returned and in place for upcoming appointments.
Discussing treatment plans, costing and timeframes with patients in regards to their treatment plans.
Maintaining thorough and accurate records and ensuring patient confidentiality.
Communicating with clinicians and nurses to ensure the smooth running of the day.
Ordering stock, writing referrals, running reports and cashing up duties.
Managing patient queries on the phone and in person to support the practice.
Comprehensive knowledge of dental procedures
Patient journey awareness
Effective communication skills
Compassion and patience
