Work history

Head of Key Stage 1 and Mathematics Lead

King's College School, The Bahamas
Nassau, Bahamas
2025.08 - 2026.04
  • Designed the curriculum across Years 1 and 2 to meet the diverse context of the Bahamas and exceed expectations of the Cambridge International curriculum.
  • Raised the profile of mathematics within the school and implemented a rigorous curriculum, using resources from White Rose Maths, NRich and learning from my MEd in Mathematics Education.
  • Led a team of four members of staff to provide an excellent educational experience to all children in Key Stage 1. I developed staff training (formative assessment, effective questioning), appraisals and observations to enable excellent professional development for my team.
  • Developed IEPs for a number of children across Key Stage 1.
  • Worked alongside the Designated Safeguarding Lead to ensure excellent safeguarding practices were upheld at all times.
  • Implemented the 'Read Write Inc' phonics programme which has yielded excellent reading and writing progress for all children across the phase.
  • Shaped the strategic development of a growing school by sharing expertise during leadership meetings. I also worked on a working group advising on curriculum mapping across the junior and senior school.
  • Carried out data analysis and progress tracking on all children across the phase. I then identified pupils of concern and developed interventions.
  • Managed pastoral issues with kindness, sensitivity and professionalism.
  • Delivered informative workshops for parents about our school curriculum and phonics programme.
  • Provided ELSA support for children requiring emotional support.
  • Built positive relationships with parents, ensuring that all families felt that their child was recognised as an individual and celebrated frequently.
  • Led a variety of clubs to provide experiences for children including: Public Speaking Club, Arts and Crafts Club, Multi-sports Club and Young Scientist Club.
  • Supported the 11 pupils in my class with English as an additional language.

Year 4 Class Teacher and Mathematics Lead

King's College School, The Bahamas
2024.08 - 2025.08
  • Developed engaging lessons for children with a range of needs.
  • Identified gaps in children's knowledge and organised reading and writing interventions.
  • Led the PSHE curriculum, supporting the social and emotional development of the children.
  • Shaped the school's behaviour policy to include positive behaviour management practices. Led by example, and my consistent, calm approach to behaviour was recognised by the senior leadership team and I was encouraged to apply for the Head of Key Stage 1 position.
  • Supported all children to make excellent academic progress. By the end of the year, over 80% of the children had achieved "Outstanding" in the Cambridge International Curriculum examinations, in Mathematics, English and Science. These results far exceeded the predicted grades based on baseline assessments and CAT4 data.
