I oversee the recruitment needs of 56 stores across Scotland, managing a wide range of roles from Customer Assistants to Deputy Store Managers. During my time with Lidl, I have built fantastic relationships with stakeholders and candidates alike, and supported my manager in delivering recruitment training to hiring managers from all different areas of the business.


My main responsibilities/achievements in this role include:


  • Leading bi-monthly calls with hiring managers to forecast upcoming recruitment needs and plan effectively.
  • Advertising and managing all vacancies through Lidl's applicant tracking system.
  • Screening, shortlisting and selecting suitable candidates.
  • Arranging and conducting telephone and face to face interviews, ensuring a strong understanding of the needs of the hiring manager to accurately assess each candidates suitability for the role.
  • Proactively sourcing talent through multiple channels, including social media.
  • Planning recruitment open days.
  • Representing Lidl at various career fairs to engage with talent from all walks of life.
  • Managing partnerships with external agencies as well as employability and social recruitment organisations, supporting inclusive hiring and creating access to opportunities, whilst also widening our talent pipeline.
  • Coaching hiring managers to enhance their interviewing skills, ensure they are following best practice and maintaining a consistent approach across the business.

After joining LOVE@Care as a recruitment consultant, I quickly became one of the top performers in the team by consistently exceeding targets and building great relationships with both candidates and hiring managers. Due to my hard work and proven results, I was promoted to Recruitment Manager where I took on additional responsibilities including training department heads and team leaders on effective interview techniques, drawing on my track record of engagement and success with candidates and thus enhancing our overall recruitment process.


In my role as a Recruitment Consultant and later, Recruitment Manager with LOVE@Care, I:


  • Utilized a comprehensive 360 recruitment process ensuring smooth, positive and swift transactions from initial advert to placement.
  • Engage with department managers to forecast future hiring needs and requirements.
  • Advertise job vacancies through online platforms such as Indeed, Linkdn, Facebook and Instagram to attract top candidates.
  • Organised and attended University and College career fairs to engage with students on roles available that would pair well with their studies.
  • Despite a high number of applications, I am proficient in screening and shortlisting suitable candidates.
  • Arrange and conduct candidate interviews, understanding all relevant experience and qualifications to help assess a candidates suitability for the role.
  • Create offer letters, contracts and new starter paperwork in preparation for new starts.
  • Request and contact candidate references, ensuring compliance with safer recruitment guidelines.
  • Booking candidates in for induction within their new teams and arranging all relevant training for new staff to ensure they feel are well equipped to succeed in their new role.
  • Obtaining correct and up to date information from candidates in line with legal requirements.
  • Manage Care Inspectorate audits for Glasgow and Lanarkshire ensuring all standards are met.

Mental Health Team Secretary - Band 3

As the sole receptionist at the front desk, I consistently strive to create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, maintaining a helpful and empathetic approach to all patients. I am proficient in multitasking and able to prioritise my responsibilities, I navigate a high pressure environment while managing face to face and telephone queries. In addition, I excel at handling distressed patients and their relatives, ensuring their needs are addressed promptly and compassionately.


On top of this, I have many other daily responsibilities. These include:


  • Dealing with enquiries at the front desk and via telephone from patients, relatives, carers and staff.
  • Taking all calls for The Arran Centre and ensuring any relevant information is passed along to appropriate staff member.
  • Ensuring all urgent messages are passed on to the on call community psychiatric nurse in a timely manner.
  • Receive new patient referrals from GPs and other services, ensuring the patients are in our catchment area and adding all referrals and supplementary information to be discussed at team allocation meeting.
  • Daily input to databases and/or clinical information systems as appropriate.
  • General typing and record management.
  • Effective and efficient use of a PC and relevant software packages to ensure accurate information is available at all times
  • Photocopying/Scanning and circulation of any relevant materials.
  • Requesting patient case notes, making sure they are requested in time for team meetings.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient files, in accordance with data protection and information security policies.
  • Reporting any faults in the building to maintenance for repair.
  • Responsible for ordering supplies and for stock control, including ordering stationary and patient equipment as directed.
  • Managing and booking clinical rooms for different departments and staff members.
  • Arrange and amend patient appointments.
  • Arranging bus pass travel cards for patients, and updating these when they need renewed.
  • All clinical staff are given panic alarms, if they are to set off their alarm I always follow protocol to ensure the safety of staff and patients.


My role in mental health has taught me the importance of being prepared for anything, I bring a resilient and flexible approach. I thrive in managing the diverse demands and challenges presented to me within the mental health environment, consistently delivering exceptional support and service while remaining professional and ready for any situation that may arise.
