I pay attention to the greatest detail in my work to know every plant and weed in the garden so a man made creation can harmonize beautifully with nature in an aesthetic practical and artistic way. Engaging in communication with others in order to have a workflow that is inspiring, so every day is an achievement makes leadership flow in a cohesive manner knowing that everyone's part is equally important and respectful to achieve the end result.
As every gardening year is different and challenges arise means I can resourcefully use my skills to problem solve, learn more and have a beautiful finish at any given moment.
There are 11 garden rooms that were initially designed by Jinny Blom. My team consists of 1 part time gardener 2 days a week and one full time groundsman. Contract maintenance work is outsourced in the summer months. The gardens are ever evolving as in some parts native plants are allowed in to intermingle so the key objective there to create a look that naturally blurs the line between the local flora and non native plants. To obtain that look it's a constant flux between cutting back, leaving plants up or clearing a patch and planting out new ones which creates fantastic dynamics and more biodiversity. Layered successional planting is key to have flower borders looking great through the growing season along with leaving enough structural height when growth slows down. Beauty is only created by passion, enthusiasm and making errors. Manipulating the beauty of nature means I am able to see it change in order to pick out forms and textures that is a delight to look at but also evokes something that we are all part of. I have created a garden that looks effortless within its own environment. My additional task to my gardening duties is flower arranging in Da Costa restaurant on a weekly basis.
I joined Holland Farm when the house and hard landscaping for the garden was just finished.
I worked closely with designer Libby Russell and we developed a manicured garden that involved all aspects of seasonal gardening. Communication was key at all times with the client as implementing their vision was to a very specific requirement.
This garden was opened up to the national garden scheme and featured in magazines under my management.
