Working within the private sector early in my career as a trainee accountant and moving in to the public sector has provided me with a wealth of experience of working in complex organisations and developed my business acumen. During the last 20-years I have held the position of Director in a large local authority, a period of time also acting as the deputy Director covering Adult Social Care and Public Health. I had the responsibility for the organisations corporate strategy and policy, corporate performance, data/intelligence, voluntary sector contracting and corporate risk management. Also, the large functions of; technology/ICT (including broadband and 5G delivery), digital change and customer strategy, agile ways of working, commercialism, programme management, organisation development and business change/transformation. This portfolio covered over 400 professional staff and an operational budget of £50m and capital budget of £40m.
I have developed and lead large scale digital and organisational change programmes, requiring significant culture change and skills development, working both within the organisation and across organisational boundaries. With a keen focus on business change and driving efficiencies through the organisation, digital innovation has been a strong focus. I have a professional understanding of managing successful programmes, Prince 2 and business process re-engineering tools. I have delivered significant change and financial savings through business change, improving services to the public.
As a senior leader I have a good understanding of committee structures and chairing committees as a very senior level.
I have worked closely with partners within the Integrated Care Board Structure, as a board member of the Digital Executive Committee and leading the ICS Collaborative Board with sub-regional colleagues.
