As a dedicated veterinary assistant, I play a key role in supporting both the clinical and administrative teams to deliver high-quality care to patients and excellent service to clients.
My role involves preparing for procedures, assisting with patient care and diagnostics, maintaining cleanliness, and equipment and ensuring smooth day to day operations in the practice.

Key responsibilities:
* Prepare theatre and surgical areas, check and set up equipment for procedures.
* Assist vets with blood tests, prepare or run samples, and support during nurse clinics.
* Admit and discharge patients, provide general patient care including feeding, grooming and toileting.
* Sterilise surgical instruments and maintain cleanliness of clinical areas and equipment.
* Handle front desk duties:answer calls, schedule appointments, manage queries and dispense medication.
* Deliver high-quality customer service, including processing medication requests and writing condolence cards.
* Manage payments, complete end-of-day banking and handle client subscription plans, including missed payments.
*Complete insurance claim forms accurately on behalf of clients.
* Maintain and update patient records, vaccination history and referral documentation.
*Send pre-operative instructions via email and manage general administrative tasks.
* Monitor and order stock, ensuring adequate supply levels are maintained.
* Use internal practice systems and Microsoft Office confidently for day-to-day tasks.
* Take photos for the practice's social media content and support community engagement.
As well as general veterinary assistant and receptionist duties, I was in sole charge of managing the Ewell pet health plan, completing pet insurance forms and liaising with insurance companies and debt management.
During my time at Maven vets I worked at the main practice but also spent some time sole charge of the small one vet branch practice in Worcester park.
In charge of completing clients insurance claim forms and designing display boards for both practices.
