I am a Chemical Engineer master with some experience working in a pilot plant. I would like to obtain a permanent junior/graduate-level process engineering position that will allow me to continue developing my engineering skills.
Plant operation and maintenance: I operated the pilot plant, which processed ABC powder from fire extinguishers to create fertiliser, with one to two other engineers. My contributions included:
Identifying and resolving any issues encountered: Problems such as cavitation, bridging, and machine malfunction were common. My in-depth understanding of the process and equipment allowed me to correct these issues.
Process improvement: I continually researched improving the process, resulting in greater capacity and yield. My contributions included:
Collaboration: I collaborated with several other companies regarding equipment purchase and strategic direction. Clear communication and a deep understanding of the process was required. My contributions included:
Teaching: During my time at Phos Cycle, several new employees joined the engineering team. I taught these people how the process worked, how to set up, shut down and run the process, the health and safety requirements, how to handle the product/feedstock, how all the machines worked, and what to do in the event of machine breakdown.
Personal Skills:
Technical Skills:
Master's Level Projects:
The development of whole-tissue meat analogues
This was a literature study, looking at the progress being made in developing meat analogues with an internal hierarchical structure like that of meat. It studies the different processing techniques and materials currently used, and their future potential.
Bachelor's Level Projects:
Final-year group project: Design a process to produce biodiesel from waste cooking oil.
Final-year individual project: Technical design of the flash separator and decanter used in the group process design.
I have spent the last 15 months living and working in Australia, as well as spending several months travelling through Asia. I worked jobs I had never tried before, and I experienced different cultures around the world. As great as the year was, I wanted to continue engineering and so decided to move back to the UK in hopes of finding interesting and rewarding work.
I love playing live music and sports. I have performed as part of a band and as a solo act playing piano. I play guitar regularly, and I taught piano lessons to primary school children for several years before moving to Birmingham. I particularly love playing Basketball and table tennis, but I enjoy getting stuck in with all sports and learning something new.
