I am a compassionate and highly skilled Registered Nurse with over 7 years of post-qualification experience, underpinned by a strong foundation in both community and acute care settings. My professional journey has equipped me with the clinical expertise, critical thinking, and interpersonal sensitivity essential for the Functional Assessor role.
My career began in the community as a healthcare support worker, where I supported individuals with learning disabilities and mental health conditions. I was responsible for promoting safe, person-centred environments while encouraging service users to live as independently as possible and engage with local amenities. This role deepened my understanding of the social and psychological factors affecting people’s daily functioning and the importance of tailored support to enhance quality of life. Following my registration as a nurse, I transitioned to intensive care, where I have spent the past seven years delivering high-quality care to critically ill patients. Working in intensive care has strengthened my ability to assess complex clinical presentations, communicate sensitively with families, and manage time and resources effectively under pressure. It also demanded unwavering attention to detail, a high degree of clinical judgement, and excellent documentation and IT skills – all of which are directly transferable to the Functional Assessor role.
I am particularly drawn to this position as it allows me to combine my clinical knowledge with a holistic, person-focused approach. I have a strong interest in understanding how disability and long-term health conditions impact individuals’ daily living and their capacity to function safely and independently. I take pride in my ability to conduct thorough assessments, ask the right questions with empathy, and produce clear, evidence-based reports that reflect each person's lived experience. I am confident in my ability to contribute positively to your service.
