Summary

I am confident, friendly, patient and hard working and after 23 years of working within the Streetworks Team at Shropshire Council I realised that I wanted to make a difference and pursue a career in helping young people.

My eldest son has struggled with his mental health and in particular anxiety issues which has ultimately resulted in him being out of school for over 2 years before finally being provided with an EOTA's package where he now receives one to one education at home.

Now my son receives the help and support he so needed it has made me realise that my passion is to help other young people going forward and therefore am currently a Learning Support Assistant within a mainstream primary school.

I am thoroughly enjoying my current role however I have a particular interest and desire to work/help with SEN children in a more nurturing role in order to help them thrive.

Over the last few years advocating for my son I have realised that if a young person doesn't feel safe, secure and able to trust the people around them then they will not be able to thrive. I feel that I am the perfect candidate to offer this emotional support as I not only realise how vital this is for the children involved but also for their families.

In addition to the above I have recently attended the Wildlife Trust Outdoor Learning Course and am now competent and confident as an Outdoor Learning Lead and would love the opportunity to be able to incorporate this into my day to day work helping young people going forward.
