I am an enthusiastic organic/medicinal chemist with strong theoretical and practical skills. I have made positive and intuitive contributions to help drive two lead optimization programmes towards candidate selection. I am a diligent and highly organized individual achieving targets in timely fashion. Excellent communication skills have resulted in effective representation of programme work at matrix meetings and internal/external conferences. A strong team player, building strong rapport with members and sharing knowledge and experience. Burgeoning medicinal chemistry and supervisory skills .

Have demonstrated strong knowledge of synthetic and practical chemistry.
This has involved the implementation of neat synthetic tactics to synthesize multi-gram quantities of a number of unknown key intermediates.
This allowed formation of acylpyrrolidine targets for the HCV polymerase inhibitor programme, which permitted the acquisition of crucial biological data.
These targets were selected as backup-molecules to the candidate.
My highly productive work in this area culminated in co-inventorship on five patents.
Initiated the chemistry for a new start-up project.
Designed various synthetic routes, amenable to array chemistry allowing attainment of early targets to establish SAR.
Routes were subsequently used by project group/external collaborators and were central to the progression of the programme towards candidate selection.
Played a key role in large scale synthesis (50g) of important targets.
This work has resulted in co-inventorship on 3 patents and also me being awarded an R&D Recognition award.
For various programmes have made a number of pertinent suggestions towards new targets based on SAR and discussions with computer modellers.
This has allowed proactive synthesis of new targets with high potency.
Utilized internal software packages to identify novel scaffolds of initial hit molecules and subsequently executed chemistry in pursuit of new lead series.
Experience of Spotfire to analyse patterns in various parameters of target molecules.
Management and overseer of the GSK HCV Protease database.
Effective presentations at meetings with external partners and active participation offering suggestions to synthetic problems encountered on different programmes.
Suggestions made allowed synthesis of first novel template for the HCV protease programme, which showed biochemical potency and was a major initial hurdle overcome.
Regular presentations at departmental/project meetings discussing SAR and PK.
Have attended the Medicinal Chemistry School, Nottingham (2005).
Effective supervision of two IP students, developing their practical/theoretical skills through exposure to a variety of chemistry and ensuring compliance with safety procedures.
Developed excellent rapport.
Currently overseer PhD case award student (Bath University).
Regular involvement in recruitment, acting as site host, conducting technical interviews and participation in panel discussions for the selection of successful candidates.
Received a GSK Recognition award for effective supervision.
Member of postgraduate internal tutor's panel, supporting the continuous organic chemistry education of graduate employees.
Profile enhanced significantly by presentation of HCV Polymerase poster at 31st ACS Medicinal Chemistry Symposium, Pittsburgh (2008), poster at GSK Medicinal Chemistry conference, Verona (2007) and Acylpyrrolidine talk at GSK Medicinal Chemistry symposium, Stevenage (2005).
Organized and created an electronic database of >25,000 stock items, prepared and coordinated despatchments for distribution worldwide, team leader coordinating work of others.
